Dad you had an illness that was not because of how you were treating your health- this was something beyond your control from building houses- there are no treatments and you were left with al that and stood by us all during a time you couldn’t breathe without a tank and my father - beautiful soul held on even though he hated the tanks, being out of breath as he was physically fit in every way. He still lived on with a hard to breathe day to day but he did it with gumption and pride for living

Dad was diagnosed 2023 with IPF which we had never heard of before. He was given 2 to 5 years but sadly we lost him May this year just 17 mths since diagnosis. It was so sad to watch our energetic, fun loving caring husband/dad/grandad & great grandad,go from tending his allotment, fishing, caravanning & getting out & about to struggling to breath, & being house bound. He stayed strong & full of hope & kept us laughing until his beautiful heart stopped beating. Miss him 💔 so much it hurts.

Dad’s PF journey was a short but scary one. None of us understood quite what it would mean for him when he was diagnosed in October 2022, and he tried so hard to live life the way he always had. Watching someone who, until so recently, you thought was healthy, struggle for breath with everyday tasks is heartbreaking. Dad’s heart gave out under the strain in December 2022, leaving us in shock. Well never forget how PF changed our lives overnight and want to spread the word in dad’s memory.

Died in 2018. She showed tremendous courage and strength while facing this awful disease. Always putting her lipstick on until her very last days she defied the prognosis of 4 months left to live, extending it to a year. The most Incredible woman whose brother also had the disease.

6 months ago, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis stole my amazing,strong hard working fit dad away from us, my dad was diagnosed in October 2021 and devastated our lives, we had never heard of this cruel illness before, up until then my dad was still working as a bricklayer and had been healthy all his life so this came as a massive shock, my dad, my hero bravely fought for 2 years and 5 months, I will never accept it, a part of me also died that day 13/03/24 ( forever 60) love you so much dad xxxx

My husband died in 2019 about 5 years after his diagnosis- we knew nothing about it apart from what Google said about it. Didn’t k ow of any suppprt groups or fundraising for research. There was a new research taking place at Addenbrookes so I sent all funeral donations to that and only recently found this Facebook group. Still miss him hugely and he was not ready to die even though he was a Priest and knew what was to come. Going to continue to support this group as much as I can

I lost my dad to IPF July 24th 2024. My siblings and I were with him at the hospital day and night in the weeks before his death. It was heartbreaking hearing him say he'd had enough and wanted to die. There is a massive hole in our lives that will never be filled. He was the kindest, most giving person and made friends wherever he went. It was a proud moment when there was a long procession of cars following our cars to the funeral. Hopefully he is with Mum again. We will never forget him 💔
